What an unlikely match-up we have to consider in making our
2007 NBA Finals Predictions. Everybody is giving Cleveland all of the hype,
but it is almost equally as unlikely that the San Antonio Spurs reached the NBA
Finals. Dallas and Phoenix were the favorites to make it despite San Antonio
making numerous appearances in Finals within the last 10 years. Experts keep
underestimating the importance of defense when making their NBA Finals
Predictions.
San
Antonio has the best defense in the league, but
Cleveland's is very underrated. San Antonio gives up 90.8
points per game while Cleveland gives up just 91.9 points
per outing. This series has all of the makings of a
defensive battle. It's not what the fans are going to want
to see, but the simple fact is that defense wins
championships. The team with the better defensive effort
will come out with the rings in the 2007 NBA Finals.
Our 2007 NBA Finals Predictions will probably be a little
different than most other experts are predicting. San
Antonio hasn't had to face a Game 7 throughout the
playoffs but this series should surprise some folks.
Cleveland has proven that they can win on the road and so
has San Antonio. Each team will go 2-1 on their home floor
and we will end up with a Game 7 in San Antonio where the
Spurs will prove victorious.
Cleveland has had recent success against the Spurs in
winning both meetings this season, one in Cleveland and
one in San Antonio. San Antonio's experience will prevail
despite some early scares in this series. The Spurs won't
let Lebron James have his way in the paint like teams from
the Eastern Conference did. Guys like Tim Duncan and
Robert Horry will be there to take the charge unlike
Rasheed Wallace, Chris Webber and Tayshuan Prince for
Detroit in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Look for the Spurs to struggle early in the 2007 NBA
Finals with a bit too much rest coming into this series.
Cleveland is coming off four straight wins and enter this
series with a lot more momentum than San Antonio. Game 1
will come down to the wire and if Cleveland can pull off
the win in Games 1 or 2, this series will go 7 games. The
Spurs are –450 on Bodog Sportsbook to win this series
outright while Cleveland is +325. A bet on San Antonio
would be very wise because in the long haul their
experience will prevail. You will have a couple
opportunities to cash on Cleveland against the spread
throughout this series, but a bet on Cleveland to win
would be against our advice. Take the Spurs to win in 7
games and capture the NBA Championship in 2007.
